If you use Windows Media Player to play Musepack files, you can now use the WMP Tag Plus v2.0 plugin to add library and tagging support.

Thank you, I didn't know that WMPTP supports Musepack already.
It is good that the plugin is actively developed, because currently there is a number of issues with SV8 - bit rate and lenght are wrong (0), endless loop at the EOF if the file is tagged. The same as mplayer, except that they corrected the endless loop after all. |

That is because TagLib, the tagging library used by WMP Tag Plus, doesn't support Musepack SV8 yet. I only know of this since yesterday thanks to the report of another user of the plug-in. The bug report in the TagLib bug tracker requesting SV8 support can be found here.

Thanks for voting. Unfortunately, there's no feedback anymore from the TagLib developers. I'm starting to think that they are counting on someone else to contribute a patch.

Well, it seems, that TagLib already support SV8.

Exactly, thanks for letting me know. I'm hoping to release a new version of WMP Tag Plus with the SV8 support included soon.

Sorry that it took so long, but I finally found some time to update the TagLib version included in WMP Tag Plus and thereby adding SV8 support. There's no official new release yet, but the updated TagLibTagSupport.dll file can be downloaded from this link.
After downloading, make sure that WMP is closed, simply replace the old TagLibTagSupport.dll file in the WMP Tag Plus Program Files folder with the new one, and restart WMP. If there already are Musepack SV8 files in your library, you will need to remove them from the library first and then re-add them (Tools - Advanced - Restore deleted library items). Thanks Tim, it really works as expected.
Refreshing the song tags didn't work for me, but once I removed and added them again in the library, it was OK. |

Good to hear, thanks for reporting back
![]() Out of interest, what exactly didn't work when using 'Refresh song tags'? Edit: never mind, already found out that 'Refresh song tags' simply doesn't detect the songs. Previous post is corrected. Last edited by Tim De Baets; 26 December 2012 at 08:08 pm. |
