in_mpc and Winamp 5.25

hello,

I use Winamp 5.25 to play MPC with the plug-ins in_mpc.
A lot of things ave change since winamp 5.25.
I want to say if in_mpc 0.99g is fully compatible with winamp 5.25 (24 bit mode, replay gain) ?

Hello hugo.

24bit playback is not related to input plugins and in_mpc should work as it always has, since Winamp's plugin API never has any significant changes.

Regarding their ReplayGain scanner, I have no idea about it, and I wouldn't trust it to add data to any file type properly.
They add support for the open ReplayGain system, without even supporting Musepack, the first to implement and officially support ReplayGain in the format itself. MPC files' header has reserved space especially for APEv2 tags and ReplayGain data, and that scanner wouldn't possibly be able to use it, if it even supports adding data to formats that aren't supported internally. It would stuff the data in the wrong place.

Don't use Winamp's ReplayGain scanner to add RG data to MPC files, or to any other format Winamp refuses to support.

A new libmpcdec-based musepack plugin for Winamp is forthcoming. With replaygain scanning, 24bit playback and transcoding support.

And, will its source be open or closed?

Let's hope that it will be shipped with WinAmp by default ! - If they are a litte bit clever, they'll do so.

I think so, because...
1) the actual winamp dev team adds so many improvements between the releases and listens the users' wishlist
2) the same happened with flac, ogg, aac and all "nullsoft branded" input plugins, now in official standard distribution (aka "full")

the only problem could be some licensing question (like the flac input plugin some time ago now resolved...):
