Hello!
I got some Music files which are MPC and i hadn't got this filetype before. Now i want to get this files running, what do i need? I downloaded some codecs and run them, a black picture was opened for maybe 1/2 Second. are the codecs now installed?? Do i need encoders oder decoders to get this files running? after doing that i still cant use the MPC files. Is winamp required to run themß because i only have Creative Play Center..... hope you can help me..... MFG Woody |

To play MPC files with programs that use DirectSound for playback, such as Windows Media Player, you can use the RadLight MPC DirectShow Filter that can be downloaded from the 'MPC for Windows' section on the site. If PlayCenter uses DirectSound, it should be able to play MPC files after installing that plugin, if it doesn't, it probably can't.
You can download plugins for various programs from the site, and the 'Prog Overview' section has a list of programs that can play MPC files. The Musepack encoder and decoder are not playback plugins, they're used to convert wav files to mpc and mpc to wav. They're command line applications, which means they don't have a graphical user interface, so you have to run them from a command line window (Start -> Run -> type "cmd"). If you don't know how to use the command line interface or prefer to use a GUI (Graphical User Interface) you can download 'MPC Batch Encoder' from the site, unzip it to the same folder you put mppenc.exe and mppdec.exe in and use it. Other programs can be used as frontends to mppenc and mppdec as well. |

Just type "mppdec <filename.mpc>". This will play the file using standard WaveOut ... |

The regular playback option and others are there for testing, but it doesn't mean mppdec is a playback plugin and it hardly has audio player functionality.

If you're not sure about the mpc codecs in Winamp, check by clicking : "Options" - "Preferences" - "Plug-ins" - "Input" in Winamp. The list of input codecs is listed there. You should see a codec that says something like .mpc MPC Plugin 0.99d [in_mpc.dll] Or you can simply try and play your mpc encoded files using winamp. Another fine mpc player is Foobar 2000(recommended) http://www.foobar2000.org/ Hope everything works out in the end!
