OpenSUSE 10.2
locale: en_US.UTF8 libc-2.5 gcc-4.1.2 mppenc SVN (current revision - 259) Whether encoding with --unicode option or without, characters like umlauts and such (ä å ë ö ø ÿ), though present in the filenames, are replaced by some weird combinations in the tags: å turns into Ã¥, ä into ä and so on. I only specify --quality and tag options along with --unicode. Is it just me? |

I had this issue too (see http://trac.musepack.net/trac/ticket/13) but had this solved using --unicode (on my branch, but I don't think something changed about unicode).
But my system still uses iso_8859-15 encoding. I'll see if I can reproduce your issue. |

I just had a look to the code. It seems that you need to put --unicode before tags in the command line. Did you put it before or after the tags ?

Why, of course I always put it after tag options... Now I put it even beforehead of --quality tag and got unicode symbolls well! Thanks a lot, it's gonna save me a lot of time fixing tags in EasyTAG ![]() But this thing must be either fixed or be clear from mppenc --longhelp output, imho. |
