current Status of Tag-Writing in XMMS/BMP Plugin

I'd like to know if someone started coding of tag-writing ?? Or if it's allready done but not released,yet.

I am waiting taglib 1.3 that will support ape2 and musepack to add it. Malkodan added id3 tag reading and writing but i found some bugs in it. As i'll be away for some time this year and this is open source stuff, i guess anyone is free to add tag reading/writing or anything else in current plugins

taglib 1.3 ?? So, the plugin would depend on some external library ??
As it seems Id3-tag reading isn't supported in 1.1 Alpha 6

No, malkodan version isn't out due to a bug i always have and had no time yet to fix.

About Taglib, plugins are already dependent on libmusepack. I think it's uneeded to implement again another implementation of apev2 tags while there's one already done in this lib.

I guess you're right about Taglib.
About the Id3-stuff. I needed a reason for not learning for my test on monday, so i did the reading of ID3-Tags.
If you're interested you can try the Plugin for BMP and the one for XMMS.
Don't know if it's a good implementation, but it works for me

btw, the BMP-Plugin has big problems with special characters like ö,ü,ä. Doesn't matter if these characters are in the filename or APE/ID3 tag. BMP crashes if you try to play the file.

Fixed the issue about special characters. Now you can add files with special characters to the playlist, play them and see the tags correctly.

great job guys, the xmms plugin is great

i have noticed a little bug when playing files with no tags at all (neither id3 nor ape2). xmms shows only "-" as filename for such a file. it would be better to display the real filename without the extension (.mpc) for non-tagged files.
i hope you can fix it before releasing alpha7 :>

Now the plugin should display the filename without the extension if no tag was found.
