Hi folks,
I'm new to Musepack and I'd like to comprehend how I can use it to listen to MPC files on Linux. I've downloaded libmusepack-1.0.1.tar.bz2 and unbzipped/untarred it into .xmms/Plugins/. I tried to open a MPC file with xmms but it just popped up a file-choosing window. Then I found on http://www.hydrogenaudio.org/forums/index....showtopic=23344 that I should change the Makefile: old: CPPFLAGS = -Wall -fPIC -DPIC -O2 -march=i686 -pipe -DPOSIX -D_REENTRANT new: CPPFLAGS = -Wall -fPIC -DPIC -O2 -march=x86-64 -pipe -DPOSIX -D_REENTRANT Launching xmms still didn't play my mpc file... Am I doing something wrong? Something I missed? Using xmms-1.2.7-25mdk on Mandrakelinux 9.2 Thx K |

Hello again,
stupid old me "read" the Makefile and actually ran as root: make install. Now what am I to expect? Nothing seems to have changed within XMMS' configuration, and checking the Plugin tabs didn't enlighten me either =( Waiting for your input. K |

You need to install libmusepack AND the xmms plugin which are separate packages

Thx Lefungus. I compiled everything, installed all the extra software needed, and am presently listening to John Coltrane with Don Cherry (Cherryco).
Thx a lot for your support :-D |
